As Wireless Network Architecture manager & Principal Engineer at Intel, Charlie Tai drives communications and networking technologies and strategies. He joined Intel in 1992, and has held a number of research, architecture development, and management positions. Specific areas of research interests include wireless broadband access, mobility, home networking, quality of service, energy-efficient communications, and secure and easy network setup.
Dr. Tai has represented Intel in international standards bodies and industry organizations, including ADSL Forum, ATM Forum, USB Implementers Forum, IEEE, IETF, WinSock 2 Forum, and UPnP Forum. He had been on the UPnP Forum Steering Committee and Board of Directors for the UPnP Implementers Corporation.
Dr. Tai received 2 Intel Achievement Awards, Intel’s highest technical award, and holds 8 U.S. patents with multiple pending. Dr. Tai received Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from UCLA, and B.S. from National Taiwan University.
