Guy Therien is the Mobile Platform Architecture / System Software Architecture group manager within Intel’s Mobile Platforms Group (MPG). He and his team of software engineers are responsible for a number of aspects of mobile platform development including: mobile-related system software development, Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) specification technical development and evangelization, power management software related research and development, mobility application collateral development, and mobility software tools development.
Therien joined Intel in 1993 as a member of the iRMX operating system’s development team. He was promoted to software manager of Intel’s OEM Modules Operation in 1995 and was responsible for all OS level software supporting Intel’s Multibus single-board computer product line. He joined Intel’s Mobile and Handheld Products Group in 1996, managing a team of engineers conducting power management software research within the Mobile Technology Lab (MTL). He assumed responsibility as Intel’s ACPI point person in 1998 as was appointed Principal Engineer of Intel Corporation in 2001.
Prior to joining Intel, Therien developed real-time and data communications systems and software for the defense, aviation, and telecommunications industries. He received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Towson University in 1984.
