Labs

The Technology Labs at IDF are your opportunity to get hands-on experience and deep technical information on a number of critical technology topics. Experts will be on hand to teach and lead you through the labs.

October 20 - Day 1 Labs

Lab: Power Management and Available Tools Overview

What you will get from this lab:

  • See two tools developed internally at Intel to control and verify power management and thermal functionality at both the platform and device level
  • Introductions and tools overview with hands-on time using the tools discussed on various Intel®platforms (There will also be time for Q&A)
  • A representative from LeCroy will be present to explain how link recovery times for ASPM capable PCI Express* devices can be measured using Intel’s tool and the LeCroy protocol analyzer

Note: attendees should have intermediate to advanced knowledge of power management states (Sx, Dx, and Lx) at the platform, device and link levels and also some knowledge of thermal considerations/control at the platform level.

Extreme Edition Notebook Lab: Performance Optimization Techniques for Mobile
Platforms

What you will get from this lab:

  • Interactive lab demonstrations will give participants the opportunity to experience these technologies and techniques
  • Discussion of Intel platform building blocks for Extreme Edition notebooks.
  • Hardware selection and configuration.
  • Thermal design optimization techniques
  • Software/BIOS optimizations.
